Best Banana Bread


There is banana bread and then there is 

THE Best Banana Bread 

3/4 c sugar
1/2 c butter
2 eggs
1/3 c milk
1 1/2 tsp vaniila
2-3 over ripe bananas
2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c nuts

Mix together the first 5 ingredients.
Mash the bananas and add to the wet mixture. Stir well.
Mix the dry ingredients together and pour into the wet mix. Stir well and pour into a greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes.

Cool 5-10 minutes before removing from the pan. 
**For muffins, prepare the same as directed above but bake for 18-20 minutes. 
(until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean)

I added 1 tsp cinnamon to the mix for my muffins.

Gander MTN

We got a new store in town... Gander MTN, so we decided to visit it today. We encountered a problem parking, now keep in mind this is a hunting, fishing, outdoor type store so the clientele is most likely going to have a Big vehicle like a truck.... well the parking spots were made to fit a sports car LOL!! We had to try a few spots before we could park our truck. What were they thinking when they designed that parking lot???

Homemade Basic DOG Biscuits!!


Homemade Basic DOG Biscuits!! 


These basic biscuits can be customized 

to your pups taste or needs! 

My little Kiwi certainly deserves 

some homemade biscuits fresh from the oven!!

Here is how to make 'em:


2 ½ cups whole wheat flour (substitute regular flour or oats if your dog is sensitive to wheat)
1 tsp. salt (or less)
1 egg
1 tsp. Beef or chicken flavoring (can substitute beef or chicken broth/stock)
½ cup hot water
***Optional Add ins
oats, liver powder, wheat germ, shredded cheese, bacon bits
(I used liver, also added tiny bit of coconut oil)

Directions->
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Dissolve bouillon in hot water
Add remaining ingredients
Knead dough until it forms a ball (approximately 3 minutes)
Roll dough until ½ inch thick
Cut into slices or bone shapes (you can purchase a bone shaped cookie cutter to make shapes with)
Place dough pieces on lightly greased cookie sheet
Cook for 30 minutes

Cool and then serve! 

Store in a plastic container, sealed to keep fresh :)

★★★ Salt Detox Bath Recipe ★★★
1/3 cup Sea Salt
1 cup Epsom Salt
1/3 cup Baking Soda
1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
3 Tbs Ground Ginger (optional)
Favorite essential oil if desired
1 cool glass of water
1. mix dry ingredients in a bowl until THOROUGHLY mixed
2. draw your bath with the water as hot as you can stand it
3. pour cider in and swish around
4. add dry ingredients, swishing to dissolve
Soak in bath for 30 minutes or as long as desired. 
Drink a cool glass of water.

Toasted Pecan Pie Bars



Taking pecan pie to the next level without all the trouble of a pastry crust...plus by topping them with toasted pecans it adds another depth of flavor!

Toasted Pecan Pie Bars 

Prep Time - 15 min 
Cook Time - 45 min 
Total Time - 1 hr 

For the Shortbread Crust
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups flour
1/2 cup powder sugar

For the Filling
1 cup pecan halves
3 eggs
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions
1.Preheat oven to 350
2.Line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper, set aside

Make the crust
1.In the bowl of a stand mixer combine butter, flour and powder sugar until well combined
2.Spread shortbread into bottom of the prepared pan, using your fingers to get it even
3.Bake for 15 minutes

To make the filling
1.Line a small rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper
2.Spread pecan halves onto pan, place in oven while crust is baking, and bake for 10 minutes or until pecans are fragrant, making sure they do not burn, remove and set aside
3.In a medium bowl whisk together eggs and brown sugar until well combined
4.Add in corn syrup, salt, vanilla and melted butter, whisking until well combined
5.Stir in toasted pecans
6.Pour filling over baked crust
7.Return to oven and bake for another 25-30 minutes, or until the center is set
8.Remove from oven and let cool for at least 1 hour before cutting
9.Store in refrigerator if not serving the same day
10.ENJOY!!

Going to the Orchard...




 Apple Pie Bread !!!



My friend Michele shares this delicious recipe today!




Yields 8 mini loaves or 2 big loaves

A delicious and great fall treat...Apple Pie Bread.

Prep Time - 20 min
Cook Time - 30 min
Total Time - 1 hr

Bread
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup buttermilk
3 teaspoons baking powder
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon all spice
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups shredded, peeled and cored apples (about 5 medium or 3 large) - I lightly squeezed the peeled apples in paper towels to help drain some of the liquid

Topping
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp flour
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp all spice
2 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions
1.Preheat oven to 350
2.Spray mini loaf pan or loaf pan with nonstick spray
3.In the bowl of electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat butter on medium-high speed for about 30 seconds
4.Add in sugars and mix until combined
5.Add buttermilk & baking powder beating until combined
6.Beat in eggs & vanilla until combined
7.In a separate bowl combine the flour, spices and salt whisking until combined
8.Slowly add in the flour mixture tot he liquid on low speed until just incorporated
9.Fold in apples
10.Spoon batter into prepared pan
11.In a small bowl combine the topping ingredients
12.Evenly divide over the bread gently pressing them into the bread
13.If making mini loaves bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
14.Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes, then remove and let completely cool on wire rack

How much water should you drink?

How much water should you drink? 

This question comes up a lot. According to many nutritionist and tons of research you should be drinking 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water DAILY... So if you weigh 200 lbs, you should be drinking 100oz DAILY...Most people are walking around this earth dehydrated and haven't a clue as to why they are suffering from so many health issues...

Listen, I'm far from a DR. but I have been learning lots of things lately, plus I study & research ALOT... 
Here's how I explain it to most people, If your car calls for 5 quarts of oil, but you only give it 2, Sure it'll run, but how long do you think it will be until it starts giving you problems? Hi Friends, 

I wanted to share with you my story,
March 2012 I lost a dear friend of mine to congestive heart failure she was only 35. It broke my heart because I didn't get a chance to say goodbye. I started worrying that if I didn't start to do something right away I too would not be hear for my family! 

So I thought about having the lap band surgery, I made an appointment 3xs & never went because the thought of being put to sleep scared me more then anything!!! So I went online looking for a support group to help me. I found one and I sat back and just watched and read all the wonderful post that were being posted. I must of asked 50 people about this stuff they were using called Skinny Fiber and if it messed with their heart in any way. They all told me no! So I decided it's either this or the lap band. Skinny Fiber was my last hope!!!!!

My Cousin, Courtney, just made these this morning and she said they are the BEST deviled eggs she has ever had!!!! 
I am going to have to go over there and try one today!!

BACON & CREAM CHEESE DEVILED EGGS 
You can adjust the ingredients to your own taste.
Ingredients: 
1 Dozen Hard Boiled Eggs
4 slices of bacon (cooked & crumbled)
4 oz Softened Cream Cheese
1/4 Cup Mayonnaise
2 TBS Yellow Prepared Mustard
Paprika
1/2 TBS Worcestershire Sauce 
Cayenne Pepper To Taste
Salt & Pepper To Taste
1. Prepare eggs. Cool and peel.
2. Slice eggs lengthwise with a knife.
3. Gently remove yolks and place in a mixing bowl.
4. Add cream cheese, mayo, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper to taste, salt, and pepper to the yolks. Mix/mash well until smooth. I used a food processor and it came out SUPER creamy.
5. Scoop mixture into a pastry bag, or resealable gallon bag and fit a tip on if desired. I just used a ziploc bag. No tip required. you can simply cut a small corner of the bag off.
6. Squeeze mixture into the empty egg whites.
7. Top with a sprinkle of paprika and crushed bacon bits.
8. Best if chilled for at least 2 hours before serving.


Can't believe this is low carb!

It is another beautiful day here in my hometown of Fort Worth.  
I would love to have sunshine and comfortable weather every day!  
I know winter is right around the corner so I am sitting on my back porch enjoying the evening as the sun starts to set.  
Kiwi is at the door wanting to go in and I am making her stay out.  
She doesn't know that soon it will be too cold to sit outside without our blankets.  
Heehee! 
I love my chihuahua, she is always here to keep me company when everyone else is gone.  Unconditional love, yup, that is what she gives me.  
We hear the birds singing songs of joy from the treetops and the neighborhood children playing basketball.  
Life is good at this moment in time. 
 I am thinking about the hammock and how lonely it looks hanging there between the trees with no one relaxing on it.  
Ta ta for now, I am going to pay it a visit while the sun goes down and the moon and 
stars appear!

German Chocolate PIE Oh my!


German Chocolate PIE !!!! 
I've gained 10 pounds in 2 seconds just LOOKING at it!!! This is an awesome rich and decadent pie Thanks Karen  Check out the picture on the right; you can see how it layers.
A gooey, delightful over the top PIE!


Karen's German Chocolate Pie
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
1 pkg (4 oz) Bakers German Chocolate
1/4 cup butter (Do not use margarine)
1 2/3 cup PET evaporated milk
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 tbs cornstarch
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1. Melt your chocolate with butter in the microwave.
2. Add milk and set aside.
3. Mix the sugar, cornstarch, and salt together.
4. Add the chocolate mixture and mix.
5. Add eggs and mix.
6. Add vanilla.
7. Pour into unbaked pie shell.
8. Bake until puffed and brown, approximately 45 min
9. Make sure your pie sets up.
Topping:
1 stick butter (Do not use margarine)
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup PET evaporated milk
3 egg yolks
1 cup pecans
1/4 cup coconut
1. Melt butter in microwave and pour into a heavy pan.
2. Mix sugar milk egg yolks together and add to butter.
3. Cook over medium heat until thick and bubbly. (Continue to stir.)
4. Add 1 cup of pecans
5. 1/4 cup of coconut
6. Spread over pie
